Moanalua Gardens

Episode 2: Moanalua Gardens

Adventures on Oahu: Moanalua Gardens (VIDEO)

On our second adventure on Oahu, we went to the Moanalua Gardens by Hitachi, it is located on 2850 Moanalua Rd. It was a beautiful garden filled with trees, plants, architecture, ponds full of tilapia and koi and also lots and lots of ducks roaming freely. You can access information through their website at http://www.moanaluagardens.com/ . We walked around the gardens as it opened at 8am, we saw a wedding being set-up and also lots of tourists visiting the gardens. We even saw a father and son having some fun in the river.

Brief history

Moanalua Gardens was made as the Honolulu's Exceptional Tree Program. It began in 1975 to preserve and protect the trees on Oahu from destruction. The Hitachi tree, three other monkeypod trees, a bao tree have all been name Exceptional Trees in the gardens.

What Deni says about Moanalua Gardens

"It feels so nice being at the Moanalua Gardens, it feels very serene.
I remember my mom telling me that this was the first park she took
my little sister to after she was born. Brings many memories to her.
I would like to take a walk with my boyfriend one day at the gardens
and just enjoy every little thing. Makes you appreciate nature"
